Lost Boys of Sudan!

Why did the Lost Boys have to run away from their homes? The Lost Boys had to run away from their homes because their was a civil war going on in Sudan and it was very dangerous to live their.

Why couldn’t they stay in Ethiopia? The Boys could not stay in Ethiopia because their government was going down and the Ethiopian government could not handle all of people that immigrated from Sudan.

What was life like in the refugee camp? Life in the refugee camp was like being in a prison because sometimes you would go through days, weeks, or a full month without food.

What we did in class! On 10/20

Part Two

Both of my parents are from the United States. My mom is half polish and Irish and my dad is German, Polish, and Irish. My grandmother on the other hand was 100% Irish. The she married my grandfather that was 100% Polish, which made my mom half Irish and half Polish. My grandfather was born in the United States, but his parents migrated from Poland to the United States. All of the questions that I asked my grandma were where my great grandparents migrated too in the United States. She told me that they came too New York in 1922 from Poland. I think it is amazing how I have someone in my family that was not born and raised in the United States. I say this because the tradition of my deceased Grandfather is still going on. I say this because when my grandfather was around we would call him Go dish which means grandfather in Polish. I think that this is very important for this to continue because I know it would mean a lot to my grandfather because his culture was always important to him. Also my dad’s grandfather and grandmother migrated from Ireland in 1918 to the same migration site that my mom’s side migrated too New York. My dad does not really talk about his family because he is not as close as he was when he was younger, but I know that if he knew more about it he would take in all the information and share it with my sister and I. All of this about my ancestors is very important because I think you should know about where you came from and how it came to be that you were born in this great country we live in now. I will tell my children one day all of the things I wish to fully know one day.

Part One

After I graduate college and high school I think of myself as a very successful adult. After high school and college I will have to make big decisions on where I will live and what I want to do with my future, but if I were to pick two locations that I would live it would be California and Florida. The reason why I would move to California is because of all the amazing things they have on the west coast such as the amazing beaches and sceneries. I would move to Florida because that could be one of the places I would go to college and if I end up loving the people around me and the area I would most likely start my career in whatever that may be. I would choose these areas because it might give me a better opportunity for me to get a job that I like and that pays good money. Also the area that I was living in might not have had the materials and the tools, such as programs and people to help you too do what you want to do. The down side of me moving to California or Florida would be me leaving home. I say this because for me it would be hard to leave my friends and love ones, and all of the memories I had in Maryland that made me who I am today. The advantages for me moving would be me being able to be more economically stable. There might be more jobs available in one of these locations they can provide a job that pays well and more importantly a job that I love. Also in my opinion the weather would be a lot more nice then the weather we have in Maryland, such as a lot more sun and beach weather which I love.

Lower population goes down
Higher population goes higher

Nigeria Highest birth rate in world

Life expectancy is how long a person a person is going to live. Birth rate how many birth per thousand. Death rate is how many deaths out of 1,000. RNI is the birth rate minus the death rate. The population of the planet has grown a lot over the last 50 years.  TFR is the average number of kids being born to a woman. The TFR for a country needs to maintain 2.1 for the population to stay the same.  Migration rate is the number of people entering or leaving your country, measured by 1,000. why do people migrate? push and pull factors. population pyramid is the number of how many people in different age group

Net migration rate - number of people, immigrants/emigrants going in and out of a country

Why might people migrate:
Push factors- The inability to practice religion, find work, or live in a safe life, etc.
Pull factors - Freedom of Speech - the right to protest, assemble, write letters to the editor, etc., freedom to practice what ever religion you want, job opportunities, etc.

United Arab Emirates has the highest net migration rate - 22.98
- they process a lot of oil and they have a lot of money and pay a lot more.

Northern Mariana Islands - -89.70 lowest net migration rate
- they only make 12,005$ a year
unemployment rate - 8%
inflation rate is very good
don't see reason why people are pouring out of that country

population pyramid - an image of a pyramid also called an age structure diagram, is a graphical illustration that shows the distribution of various age groups in a human population.

World World 2 Ended 1945
(Baby Boom)
