Question # 1-22

1. The official name of South Korea is The Republic of Korea.
2. The person that is in head of our country is Lee Myung-bak. He was born was on December 19, 1941 in Osaka, Japan. This date was also the date when he got elected.
3. South Korea was begun in 2333 B.C by a Dynasty from Japan. Due to the Cold War and the Soviet Union, Korea ended up on separating into North and South. There has been great hostility through these countries beginning 1950 when North Korea invaded South Korea. In 1953 the armistice was never signed by North Korea and the country was split by a demilitarized zone.
4. South Korea is South of Eastern Russia and west of Japan.
5. South Korea borders North Korea and the Yellow Sea, Korean Strait, and Sea of Japan.
6. The 38th parallel is the dividing line between North Korea and South Korea established after World War 2. They thought they would be safer and secure with this up!
7. The relationship between the two countries is very unfriendly. North Korea is scared to death of South Korea due to all of their arsenal and extreme leadership.
8. South Korea spends 15% of its Governments budget on the military and has the 6th largest military in the world. You can be put to prison for polluting in Korea and they have recently started cleaning up the land. An example for being imprisoned for polluting is the leader of South Korea and was also charged for five years of probation.
9. The United Nations supports South Korea if they are ever attacked with a multinational defense force.
10. The major city in my country is the capitol, Seoul it has over 10,000,000 people.


11. The South Korean military is for defense purposes and the government spends 15% of the budget on military after being invaded multiple times.

12. The North Koreans have been developing Nuclear weapons and has been advancing their arsenal and testing them for military purposes. South Korea has a nuclear program but insists it is for civilian use.

13. The closes ally Korea has is the United States.

14. South Korea lets its people freely leave the country but not to North Korea. North Korea does not let you leave if you are a citizen.

15. It is hard for foreigners to be accepted in South Korea and many things are censored in the media and many people are trafficked. For instance if you are to watch TV in North Korea it is all shows that the government wants to show.

16. It is a crime to express sympathy for North Korea through the media. To ask questions about their leader in a bad way is not aloud at all.

17. Every citizen at the age of 19 has the right to vote, one year later then America.

18. The United States is allies with South Korea, so we have to keep a close watch on what North Korea does to our ally.

19. South Korea is high income based country, has one of the fastest growing countries, and is heavily dependent on international trade.

20. South Korea most popular religion is Buddhist and Christian.

21. North Korea fired artillery rounds at a disputed island and killed many civilians.

22. Laura and Lisa Lang are American journalists filming refugees from North Korea. Their mission is too preform over 1000 surges on blind people in North Korea and see how life is in North Korea.
